What did you do this past week?

I’ve spent a lot of time applying for internships. I also played a lot of volleyball. Overall, it was a pretty uneventful week, to be honest. I worked on Chemistry, Bio, OOP, and SWE. I had a chill week tho, not so much work, got to play volleyball and be with friends a bit more. The reprieve was short-lived.

What’s in your way?

Not much honestly. I see smooth sailing for the rest of this semester. My priority is internship hunting. I’m going to start taking a more proactive approach and utilize connections on Linkedin and attending events via Handshake. Hopefully, it goes well as we are soon going to enter the final stretch of the recruitment season for fall 2020.

What will you do next week?

Probably focus less on schoolwork and more on applications for internships. It’s hard letting go of school work, but it’s definitely the right thing to do right now. Landing an internship is much more important than maintaining a great GPA as it is. Letting go of GPA perfectionism is difficult.

What did you think of The Interface Segregation Principle?

The article was pretty good, except I feel the examples it used to illustrate its points could have been better. Nonetheless, it got its points across. It was especially useful because it translated directly into my CS371p Darwin project I am currently working on. It’s a good article that gives insight into proper and efficient object-oriented design.

What made you happy this week?

Having no major quizzes or exams was a nice breather. I know it’s gonna ramp up again soon. Knowing this, I am trying to do as much internship hunting and prep right now while I can. I just hope that I’m not too late.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip of the week, for any fellow cs students seeking a summer 2021 internship is to be more proactive and utilize the handshake events to directly connect with recruiters. I believe it’s a much better way to go about it, and I should’ve been doing that from the start.
