What did you do this past week?

I’ve spent a lot of time applying for internships and interviewing for internships. I also had to play catch up on two of my classes, chemistry, and biology. I typically do SWE and OOP schoolwork first, and that just generally leads to a cycle of skipping chemistry and bio lectures and then having to catch up later in the week. I didn’t get to play too much volleyball this week because of deadlines in SWE and OOP and just, in general, having a lot of work to do.

What’s in your way?

Not much honestly. I see smooth sailing for the rest of this semester. My priority is internship hunting. I’m going to start taking a more proactive approach and utilize connections on Linkedin and attending events via Handshake. Hopefully, it goes well as we are soon going to enter the final stretch of the recruitment season for fall 2020.

What will you do next week?

Probably focus less on schoolwork and more on applications for internships. It’s hard letting go of school work, but it’s definitely the right thing to do right now. Landing an internship is much more important than maintaining a great GPA as it is. Letting go of GPA perfectionism is difficult. I have some interviews lined up and will try to get ahead in my schoolwork to be proactive and ready.

What did you think of The Dependency Inversion Principle?

I feel this article was a lot easier to digest than the last one, the Interdepency Separation Principle. It clearly outlined why dependency inversion is good, to have code that is not rigid, is flexible, and is mobile, via abstractions.

What was your experience with relational algebra in Python?

Relational algebra is pretty straightforward, it was just a matter of working with it in a Python context.

What made you happy this week?

I finally got a break from schoolwork and was able to hang out with some friends on Friday night and also play volleyball. Hopefully, more moments like that will come soon.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My pick-of-the-week is StackShare. Stack share is a great medium to find out the stack, the tools, and technologies certain companies are using. It’s very useful when you wanna learn what a company or brand utilizes.
